Dax’s New Goals Program… I Need Your Help!
Hey there!
Well, I’m here in Thailand writing the new goal achievement program that I promised my readers last year and it’s shaping up nicely : )
I’m covering tons of new areas and a lot of old ground as well but in very new ways that’ll make them much more impactful when applied. It’s a huge task to write something like this in this genre but it’s fun and Thailand makes it a great experience too.
But I need your help… please!
I need to know what YOU want in the book.
What things do you feel always get missed out or not taught enough by the goals guru’s?
What do you REALLY want to know about achieving your goals?
Post your comments here on the blog and I’ll make sure they get answered in the program : )
I really want this program to hit the spot for you and help many, many people achieve their goals even faster : )
Thanks in advance!

I have not been able to purchase your book..lack of funds not desire…so I am not sure if you cover this in your last book or not but my thing would be…How to find/make time in the day to get to everything you want to achieve….maybe I’m disorganized or possibly when I do try to ‘organize’ my days I over organize unrealistically…or maybe I try to take on too many things at the same time, but setting 100 goals for 100 days seems a bit overwhelming to me with the craziness of my days.
I hope this helps some…if not thats okay too : )good luck with your new book!

I feel the same way Sarah - I keep jumping from one thing to another. The best way to be organized is to get ready in the morning and get out of the “Home Office” and get to an OFFICE. I have spent too much time at “Home Office” and got totally disorganized and distracted by the dogs and friends calling etc.
My 2010 goat, get ready and get out of home office and prospect for at least 3 hours and then do the rest. Let us see if it works.

What I would REALLY like help with to achieve my goal is how to set consequences and rewards to help keep myself on track to my goal when my focus wavers. I am mature enough to realize the desire to achieve my goal is at the forefront of my mind today, but his goal (fat loss) will take longer than a day or two to achieve. What are some ideas, or strategies that I can put in place that are powerful enough to make me “not want to go there”? To not want to go off my program, to keep me focused and organized toward that goal when I am hungry or tired and just don’t quite “feel it” today? I understand I have to really WANT the goal and be willing to do the Action to get me there, but having both consequence and reward can be just enough to get me over the hump when I am tempted to stray. If I have something I don’t want to lose or have to experience, it would be powerful to keep me motivated! Any ideas?

Also - it would help if you share more of your ’secrets’ - such as how you network, how your manage your priorities, etc..

Hi Dax
I enjoy all your words of wisdom and try to put them into practice, as much as possible. I would just suggest that you might impress upon everyone - although you may already have done this - that they always have OPTIONs in life. I was brought up by very good, hardworking parents but it was always “You must do this. You have to do that” and it has taken me years to realise that this is not the case. You always have choices and you always have options, so if one thing doesn’t work out, there is always something else or another way. Keep up the good work, Dax, and thanks for everything.

My main problem is what I call “New Person-Itis”. We’ve all seen this at clubs, groups, meetings, etc. where the new guy signs up for everything. They have their hand in every project, they get burned out, and we never see the New Person again.
We do this at home too. Get a new book, start getting the notebook system implemented, make all the tabs and sections, and get overwhelmed and never open the notebook again.
Why not just a small printable or pull-out chart that has the Basic Two or Three Steps. Sure, more is fine, more might be better, but something is better than nothing. Simple is better because it is maintainable. I’m a busy person. I can do simple.

Dax,
The piece that you bring to the ‘goal achievement’ game is the grounding piece of what you DO. I think it limits your market. Most people want to hear that they can have everything if they just wish for it.
I think your strength, and your edge, is that you focus on doing. Personally, I would reduce any of the wishing stuff and focus on the doing.
Sure, tell people they can have what they want, but focus on what they can DO to get it. That’s such a hopeful message. Because everyone who does something gets someone.
Your edge includes focused action <–to me this is your marketing edge, your draw, and something that defines your work.
It’s different enough. And is enough.
Good luck! I know your pain!

“Because everyone who does something gets someone.”
oh that was somewhere - but someone works as well.

the hardest thing I find in setting goals is to “set them”. It sounds stupid, I know, but setting goals means you really need to know what you want. For example, if I say I want more money or higher income…how do I achieve that if our economy is in shambles, people have little or no money, and spending on services-(I happen to be an attorney), may not be a priority. Setting a goal of losing weight is fine, but one has to remember that losing weight means eating right, exercising, staying active…I would say you need to devise an easy or simple step by step program and keep people motivated after each step is achieved. It could be something like having a blog site where we list our goals, and have steps there to follow…that way we have a support group to watch us and encourage us, and you can input your opinions as to what we are doing wrongly or rightly…achieving goals is more than wishing…you cant wish away excess weight,..a person cant wish for more money..it takes action and taking that first step is the hardest…why? I dont know..

Hi Dax,
For me there are several things:
How to overcome the overwhelm - trying to do too much at once, not focusing on anything and ending up with many unfinished goals, that end up on my list year after year!
Secondly, how do I really get down to the real nitty-gritty ‘why’ of my goals. Sometimes I think I want something because that’s what I have been telling myself for a long-time and yet sometimes I’m not sure that it is the real goal as I don’t actually feel emotional about the end result - does that make sense?
Thirdly, is how do I identify and overcome the self-sabotaging behaviours? Maybe this is linked to two above? For example, I have started your Elimination diet so many times but not yet managed to get beyond about 2 weeks and yet I know it is working for me!
Thanks for all your inspiration and great work
Mandy

Hi Dax -
Have been transformed using some of your techniques and always love the candor and dry humor that comes along with your emails. Thanks!
As far as what to see in your next creation, I would love to see something that addresses ways of coping with the nay-sayers, especially those that you can’t walk away from (like spouses, children or other family members). Sometimes I feel like I am moving on to a higher level and rather than applauding or following me, my immediate family is trying to hold me back.
Any ideas on that subject would be helpful!
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hi Dax,
I love your program and have done it several times. This time around I am concentrating on only setting goals that are one offs rather than ongoing habit forming things. I found it very difficult to measure things like ” drink 2 litres of water” as eventually I would slip up and then feel like I hadn’t achieved it.
The other thing I have done in the past is add two extra categories of goal setting.
One is “self” - things to do with me and my own personal happiness and mental health that didn’t really fit into the other categories, such as paint toe nails once a week, meet girlfriends for a catch up every two weeks, discover own personal style.
The other one I added was “altruism”. Giving back. I’m a believer in you reap what you sow so I liked this one. And not just for things like ‘babysit once a month for my brother’ but I also had it cover things like recycling and composting and random acts of kindness.
I found these additional categories really great and personally, made the program even more holistic.
Good luck with the new Magic 100.

Hi Dax
i guess we just need to keep learning from people like you - you see i was surprised that you are writing another goal achievement program when the M100 does it all - but then i suppose thats the secret of your sucess - you don’t stop when something is going well.
I’d love to see in the new edition - Time Management and real ways to incorporate into every day life and interupt current thinking to make changes forever! (if that makes sense)
I am a prime example of “oh its working amazingly well, so I’ll stop doing it now” D’oh!! … so personally, i need a way to get back on the wagon and not just recognise my stupidity.
enjoy the warmth in thailand

I have the same issue as Sarah, I’m not good at organizing my day.. and when I get up early and take the time to organize my day, I lose focus on the chaos at work, at home… you get the idea.
I have been getting better at this, but I feel like I need someone who is organized to give me a step by step footprint to have the day organized and follow through the plan. Also some tips on staying focused would be great!
Cheers!

Hi Dax,
I agree with KB. Just couple days ago I was wondering about things in my life, that I have started and never finished. The list is endless…
Lately I am struggling to do anything at all, and the reason for that - complete lack of passion. Somehow I have lost a passion, there’s no more excitement, no more burning desire to achieve things, and that’s the end of the road.
I believe that the passionate attitude is the key for achieving your goals. But what to do when the passion is gone? Maybe you could help with some magic?

My biggest issue is overcoming inertia - the inactivity that is driven by paralysis from analysis.
Steve on January 6th, 2010
As others have mentioned, I also have a problem with focus. I seem to be easily distracted and end up jumping from one project to another without really making much progress.
How do I stay on task? (That may be more of a question for ME than for you!)
I also find that reviewing the list of 100 items twice a day is intimidating. Maybe I’m spending too much time doing that, but it’s an issue for me.
Thanks,
Steve

Over the past two years I have read and participated in a number of your programs, Magic 100, LGNC, I was a guinea pig for the 30in30,as result I am a believer in your processes. In your BIO You admit to being about as low as it gets regarding your upbringing, your life, your income, and to fulfill your dreams there was only one place to go and that was up..of course you could have stayed where you were but you chose to pursue a different path. Through hard work and a desire to succeed you have done just that and shared the methodology with others.
Here is where I get stuck. I have a really great job, I am paid quite well, but I have a sense that I could be doing more. How do you take a leap and leave your comfort zone for a dream? Many of us have been programmed to fit into a certain mold, and it is extremely hard to break that mold that almost seems as if it is wired into our brains. As you know I am pretty focused on when I set a goal and acheiving what I set out to do. The biggest challenge I have is taking the first step and deciding what it is I want to accomplish. There are a lot of people that have great talents but do not know how to capitalize on those talents. In my perfect world you would have a template to follow that shows people how to move forward with the steps they need to take. I know your program has a process, but simply listing the goals in catagories does not necessarily mean that you know what to do next.
Those are my thoughts.
Thanks
Margot

For me is the consistency. I have read a lot of stuff and techniques and somehow after a while I keep on felling off the wagon.
With the New Year and the big news of my wife being pregnant, I have the fuel to change a lot of stuff. Hope I can finally get there!

I am with FindPeaceToday - how to deal with the naysayers in your immediate family (spouse & parents).
I also need to know how to encourage myself when it seems like rejections and obstacles are overtaking me. I have been in a business for two years and have not seen success like others because I have allowed obstacles to make me stop.
Thank you so much for continuing to bless us with your knowledge!!

Hi Dax,
I believe the most important way to change one’s life is to reconnect with your “higher self” your “soul” or whatever you want to call it. Finding that connection and looking for the joy in everything makes all the changes necessary as it is the truth “speaking” to our 3rd dimensional bodies.
That has power to change the world.
Loving thoughts

I agree with many of the above comments re. finding the time - I know if you really really want to achieve then you will make time but I think it is also that lack of confidence/belief that changing things will actually work. Sorry for sounding so negative as I do keep on reading your messages in the hope that one day I will take that step. The ones I like best are the ones that are the most minimalist - just perhaps change one thing at a time. I often find that when I read your advice for achieving goals it is a bit overwhelming and would mean having to change my whole life ll at once - scary. Perhaps I’m reading it wrong or choosing to in order to put off doing what I know I should be doing now!

It is wild how the same issues continue to pop up! Is it our very nature? Interesting… Anyway, I find you to be a rock of inspiration, Dax. I know the part of your story that you have shared, but do you have the same issues? Are you focused everyday, or is this a learned discipline? Do you obtain the majority of your goals, or has the positive increased with practice? I have heard it said (Sam Crowley) that it takes 95% of the energy for a space craft to leave the earth, and after that it is cruising….this is an analogy of what it would be for us to get to our goals. Is it this way EVERY time, or just like a snow ball of success rolling down hill getting larger and becoming a force as it moves along?
I have the issues of first believing I can obtain the goal, losing track of my vision, losing clarity(backing up my lack of belief…) and then dropping it all together. Unfortunately, settling is too comfortable for too many of us!
Since a piece of me yearns for more, I always respond to your inspiration, and continue to hope for better results, next time!!!
Thanks again for all your help.

Hi, Dax:
The book is great as it is but maybe you should put in a little bit more on visualization and vision statements, and how to avoid or disarm
your internal ‘bs’ meter going off every time you try to put your goals down on paper. Also, the advice that you gave me when even your significant other won’t support your goals how to just do it for me and just tune them out. I hope this helps.

How to get excited about things? How to know what I want? How to find out what I really like? How to find a mentor?
yavor on January 8th, 2010
I had written a lengthy post but maybe it got eaten by the spam filter.
Here is the jist of my comment:
what I feel is missing from the program is a heavier emphasis on what Tony Robbins calles ‘chunking’ - breaking down the goals into tiny parts that take little effort/time to complete.

How do you actually acheive your goals. Some are dependent on other people - like sales etc ? i can only do so much to get someone to buy something - I’ve tried everything but nothing works and i get disheartened and give up.

sorry havent replied sooner, I have been busy with your Meltdown program & dealing with the nastiest throat infection / cold i have had in years
Some ideas / improvements…..well….the daily posts r fine very motivating. The advice you give is first class & I loved your life story.
The only thing I could suggest is making people aware that there are worse things in life than their problems & issues. I had a perfect wake up call last September, I was wasting my life, unemployed for 18 months lazy drinking alchohol. Felt nobody cared about me so why should I bother ?? then I found out my wifes uncle had motor neuron disease & had been given 6 months at best to live. He is a lovely man used to work for london ambulance services & didnt deserve that.
That was my wake up call, I fished out the M. Mcmanus DVD & watched it, looked up Dax Moy online & the rest as they say is history.
Thank you Dax for all your help & motivation I hope one day I have enough money to pay back your kindness
warm regards
Martyn
