Day 10 Already… Return To Childhood!
Hey Guys
I’ve been having a hard time getting online as the internet connection here at the villa in Thailand is pretty strange at times. In fact, I’ve been kept offline all day today…
Anyway, I’m here now and that’s the main thing, right?
Today’s message is a pretty simple one.
It’s about turning back time and hitting the reset switch on your life for a while.
You see, whilst I’ve been running my mastermind retreat over here, I’ve been thinking a lot about how so many of our problems are made by ourselves and our reactions to the world around us. It’s almost as if we bulid our realities based upon what others tell us is going on.
Swine flu? Ow, be careful!
Recession? Better tighten the purse strings!
You get my drift.
It’s almost like we have to play a part in a big game that we never even decided to join, right?
Well, what if you just dropped out for a while? Just a little bit?
What if you didn’t read any newspapers, watch any news or listen to any radio for a week?
What effect do you think that would have?
Better still, what if during that same week you only read books that were related to your childhood like Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, The Witches or anything else that sprang to mind? (Yes, I love Roald Dahl – I read thses stores to my son Connor every night)
Do you think that after just 7 days you’d feel different about the world?
I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt on my part that you would. I know because I do : )
Becoming a kid again is pretty cool.
It allows you to shake off the heaviness of being an adult and return to the life of imagination and wonder that you used to believe in so much when you were young.
You should try it for yourself.
Go on, I dare ya!
Give this 7 day return to childhood a go and report how it makes you feel. It certainly can’t hurt, right? : )
Truth, joy and love

P.S – Post what books you’re going to start with… I’d love to know : )

Childhood: sharing, laughing, running, playing, hanging from tree limbs, not a care in the world but getting to the next comic book or buying a couple of pieces of gum.
7 days of this. Who would not want to do this?

I can soooooo do this! Come to think of it, I pretty much already do. Gave up watching the news years ago ~ too depressing. Almost never read the paper beyond glancing at the front headline. I am so outta touch with the serious happenings in the world, and it doesn’t bother me a bit!
Reading childhood books is terrific ~ it’s part of my job so I do it every day. Choose a book from your childhood to re-enjoy: “Charlotte’s Web”, “Stone Fox”, or “The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe” are all good ones.
I am currently reading “James and the Giant Peach” to my son (a fellow Roald Dahl lover, eh Dax?) and the other night he laughed so hard he fell off the bed.
Good times! Try it. Meanwhile I will think of one I haven’t enjoyed for quite a while and read it again this week. Shel Silverstein’s “Where the Sidewalk Ends” is a fond memory. Perhaps I shall swing from a few birches Frost style.
Peace all.

ooh, The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton – with Silkie and Moonface. Was telling my son about it the other day. When you get to the top of the tree you go to Dreamland (can’t remember what it is called) – great adventures to be had!

About 10 years ago I moved. As I work in law enforcement and face enough stressful information on a daily basis, I decided not to subscribe to cable TV (the only way to receive TV in my area), and the newspaper. I also listen to a contemporary adult music station on the radio (which has minimal news programs). It greatly reduced the “too much needless information” and “media produced insanity” that sells newspapers, gossip magazines, and reality shows. I have not missed any pertinent information, as someone is always willing to tell me of the latest disaster, yet I get to miss the latest frenzy, such as the swine flu craze. I have gained major control on what I choose to focus on and control what I watch (movies, documentaries, etc.) and have more time for reading. I may have grown older but not up. I still read fantasy stories and fairy tales and am currently watching “The 10th Kingdom” while I use my treadmill.

Oh gosh, this is a hard one, being a kid again sounds like great fun – something I have been lacking in my life.
Would you believe it, but I do not have any children’s books in my house (as you can tell I have no children). I am going to pop to the charity shop over the weekend and see what I can find.
I hope to find: The 3 Little Pigs; Charlie and the chocolate factory and James and ….

I’m gonna start with reading the BFG again. (I’m a big fan of Roald Dahl too
) He rocks!

Sirena,
Berenstein Bears, yes. I remember enjoying the books, but also the cartoons. They were just a happy little family. I read a little Dr. Suess last night and tonight it’s The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf. One of my faves as a kid. What am I saying. I am still a kid. haha!
I’m enjoying all of the positive peeps on this site. It’s almost like we have a Mastermind group going here.
To all, much success!

p.s. Not really one to “read” but you guys remember “Where’s Waldo?”???
Mike Guardiola on May 8th, 2009
Where’s Waldo, yes. Fun Stuff!
Tonight after dinner I’ll be heading over to 1/2 Price Books for some more reading material.
The imagination seems to be waking up after a long deep sleep. I told one of my co-workers that I am reading children’s books for seven days and it seemed to spark their interest. It’s a major de-stressor. It reminded me of a young Pecan tree in my childhood backyard where I would go to climb and get away. A place to sit and eat a PB&J sandwich, read a comic book or just sit and imagine. I called it my Thinking Tree. Dax keep it coming because it is really unleashing something wonderful.
Well, gotta go climb a tree and read a book.
Till next time, Much success to all!
