Will You Ever Achieve Your Dreams? Unlikely… Unless You Do This!

You know, as much as many people becoming super-successful, I’ve gotta say, very few of them seem to have a clue what that success looks like.

Case in point, I was chatting with a group of personal trainers and bootcamp instructors earlier this week when one of them said “Wow, I can’t wait until I get my business as successful as yours is”

Flattered by the compliment I thanked him and asked him “So, when you finally make it, when you finally get there and you’re the success you always dreamed you’d be, what will that be like?”

Without pause he said “It’ll be excellent”

“Yeah, I’m sure it will be, but what exactly will be excellent about it?” I asked.

“Oh, everything!” he said with a smile on my face.

Seeing that this conversation was becoming a little circular I enquired “Yes, but what EXACTLY? What will your day be like? What will you spend your time doing? Who will you hang out with?”

The answer was one that fully 99.9% of all personal trainers I’ve asked this question have given me in the past “Umm, I dunno, but it’ll be great!”

On the flip side, the .01% of people in the industry who are earning the big bucks and living the great lifestyle that most of us envy are those who KNEW IN ADVANCE what their perfect lives would be like, how they’d spend their time, who they’d spend it with and what they’d be doing.

Coincidence?

I don’t think so!

Certainly in my own case I can tell you that my current amazing lifestyle hasn’t been the RESULT of my success, rather the knowledge of what I wanted my life to be like became the primary driver for my successes over the years.

For example, I’ve always loved the idea of travel and adventure yet before I started my business I was barely able to afford a 1 week vacation to Spain each year let alone visit some of the far-lung places I’ve visited in the last 5 years of my life.

During that time I’ve visited the Amazon rainforest, The Sahara Desert, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand (23 times at last count). I’ve been to Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Egypt and the U.S.

I’ve survived the Tsunami in Thailand, freefall parachuted over the Great Barrier Reef, Scuba Dived in the Red Sea, ran adventure races in the Amazon, visited the Coliseum in Rome, the leaning tower in Pisa, the canals of Venice, the lakes at Como, the beaches at Cannes and Nice, The Pyramids at Giza, The Temples of Angkor Wat and seen the amazing Ayers Rock, Kakadu National Park and the stunning Blue Mountains with my entire family in tow.

Yep, I’ve even taken my kids to Disney, Florida 3 times over that period too (crazy place…
And I’m back there for Christmas too!), a childhood dream of my own that my parents could never make come true for me and my brothers because we were simply too poor.

I’ve been blessed with an amazing life over the last 5-6 years and am so grateful that my own dreams have come true and that my ultimate dreams of travel and adventure have each been fulfilled, yet I’m also aware that these things happened because I knew in advance that I wanted them to happen and set out on a course of action that would make them possible… not the other way around.

Similarly, one of my big dreams and one that I relate directly to my own perception of success, is the ability to live overseas in mini-retirement for a period of my life.

And I don’t mean when I’m old!

So my family and I are moving to Thailand next summer and living there in a luxury villa for six months ‘just because’. All of my business efforts are geared toward making that dream a reality, from my personal training to my courses to my online products and services to my mentoring.

It’s all aimed at making the dream come true and, because it is, the dream WILL come true.

What about you though?

What’s YOUR success dream look like?

What is it that you REALLY want from the success of your fitness business?

An even better way of asking that is ‘what would your average perfect day look like if you could live it without limitations or negative consequences’?

To break that down, your ‘average perfect day’ means a day you would be happy living over and over and over again rather than ‘parachute onto the beach, have my butler serve me breakfast, have a massage then race my Ferrari’ kind of stuff.

Cool but not extreme may be a way to describe this.

Without consequences means that you wouldn’t, for example, choose a perfect day that involved you snorting cocaine or robbing banks. You’d get arrested or die (or both) if you did that on a daily basis, right?

Without limitation means your ‘big picture’ dreams rather than settling for what’s currently thought of as ‘realistic’ in your mind.

So what would it look like?

For me it would be something like this….
(wavy ‘dream scene’ effects please)

Wake up at dawn and go for a bodyweight workout on the beach.

Finish workout with meditation and affirmations.

Run back to my luxury villa, take a dip in the pool then go get showered ready for breakfast with my family.

Breakfast served by our in-house chef who would make me steak and eggs and serve me fresh tropical fruit.

After breakfast spend an hour with my wife walking on the beach, talking about our dreams and goals and giving thanks.

Spend an hour playing with my kids in the pool and on the beach teaching them martial arts and gymnastics.

Get into my Range Rover and drive to the first of my PT clients, train them then their partner, drive home and have lunch.

Lunch of fresh fish and Thai vegetables and fruit with family.

After lunch, work for 1 hour on online products and 1 hour on mentoring program.

Go to gym (in my villa) for my resistance training workout.

Spend an hour reading by the pool or on the beach.

Write an article or blog post.

Take jet ski or Kayak out around the bay for an hour.

Dinner with my family on patio or BBQ on the beach.

Play with family on beach til sunset.

Read to my son before bed.

Spend an hour or 2 reading or watching an occasional movie with my wife.

Make love : )

Go to sleep.

Not a bad day right?

Sure, the components could change and the timings could change (I’m up for making love at ANY time of the day) but in general, this is, for me at least, THE perfect day.

Do you know what yours looks like in this kind of detail?

It’s important that you do.

See, without a clear idea of what your dream looks like it’s very unlikely that you’ll ever achieve it. In fact, without this kind of clarity you’re likely to spend your years struggling with things that you shouldn’t be struggling with all.

Instead of working to fulfill your dreams you’ll work to generate income and, you know what? The income is NEVER enough. Or it never feels enough, anyway. Not when you don’t know what dreams you’re pursuing.

The truth is, you could live the life of your dreams far faster and with far less hassle and effort than you’d ever believe possible, but you MUST, MUST, MUST know what that life looks like.

Do you?

Do you know what success looks like, I mean REALLY looks like?

If you do then great! You’re well on your way to making it come to life.

If not then why not take 5 minutes now to start the process off by describing your perfect day like I did above.

Why is this important?

Because, quite simply, a perfect life is just a series of perfect decades strung together. A perfect decade is 10 perfect years. A perfect year is 12 perfect months made up of perfect weeks and, ultimately, perfect days.

Identifying and committing to living your perfect day is the building block to living the perfect life. It really IS that simple.

Try it for yourself.

If you’re really gutsy and believe in yourself enough then share your perfect day with all of us here in the community. If not, then go ahead and do it in private.

Either way, do it.

Start building that perfect life!

Free Think and Grow Rich Chapter For MAGIC Hundred Readers

Well, most of you seemed to guess right, despite my red herring on the date : )

The book that started the whole chain reaction of all of my subsequent success was Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

I can’t tell you more strongly how influential the book was at putting on the journey toward developing the mindset of an action-taker and subsequently for putting me on the path to reading, studying and taking action on the many goals that I’ve gone on to achieve over the last 8 years.

It’s a truly amazing read.

Which is why I want to give a copy of the book as a gift. Well, the first chapter at least as this sets the stage for developing the mindset of a winner. The mindset you’ll need to develop if YOU want to achieve the goals and dreams you’ve been thinking about for ages but, well, never gotten around to.

Just promise me one thing ok?

Promise me you’ll actually READ IT!

You see, it’s no accident that practically every seriously successful person you’ve ever heard of has a copy of this book on their bookshelf. But they didn’t get successful from owning the book alone. The had to read it and then ACT upon what they read.

It’s only the action that brings these timeless principles to life, but we’ll be talking more about that in the days ahead, but for now just pop on over, grab the book, read it and pay attention.

Remember, this might be one of those critical moments in your life, just like it was for me. You never know, which is why you have to pay attention, right? : )
